Suspicious object incident at 6718 Suitland Rd has a CCN of 10-119-1460.
On 4/29/2010 at approximately 1631 hours, Unit 3k6 (Prince George's County Police Department) and Morningside Police officers responded to 6718 Suitland Road (Red Octopus Tattoos) for a suspicious object in the middle of the parking lot. 3k6 met with the reporting person. He stated that he saw the object on the ground in the middle of the parking lot. The reporting person said he placed a orange traffic barrel near the object and called for emergency services. 3k6 observed the object that consisted of two one-liter bottles duct taped together. The bottles contained some type of yellow in color liquid. No labels were attached to the bottles. The Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit responded along with Engine 830. A Fire Investigator responded and helped direct the Units on the scene. The Unit analyzed the liquid and determined that it was 98% water and 2% acid. The HazMat Unit disposed of the liquid and washed down the parking lot with water.
Please note that even though this incident turned out to be nothing more than water in a bottle, it was the way the bottle was packaged in a suspicious manner that led to the response from public safety officers.
As stated before, please remain vigilant, times have changed and there are people out in our community that will do harm. Any questions or comments, please blog them to me.
Excellent job by all.
